I’m not getting a name change after the wedding

In Quebec, women aren’t allowed to take their husbands’ name. In fact, it’s not allowed to have any kind of name change (save for unfortunate circumstances like if someone with the same name as you murders 10 people). I don’t know if it’s because I grew up in an environment where everyone’s mom was called “Sally’s Mom” instead of “Mrs. X” but it really feels weird for me to think of myself with a different last name. Living in “English Canada” with a French name is weird… I’ve abandoned my accent since, well, in Quebec there are a ton of “Page” last names and I didn’t think twice about it. Here though, it’s not a common last name. It’s actually a really, super uncommon last name that people can’t spell. It’s a freaking common noun you guys! But I digress. Le Monsieur’s name is the complete opposite of mine. It it, quite literally, the most common last name in three different countries and the second most common in Canada (after Li).
